The event was jointly hosted by the INFF Facility, UNDP, UNDESA, UNESCAP and EU.
About session 3: Innovative Financing in the era of high debt levels: What are the trends and opportunities, including for green, social and sustainability-linked bonds and other debt instruments
The session delved into the trends and opportunities surrounding innovative financing, specifically in the context of high debt levels and the use of green, social, sustainability, and sustainability-linked bonds and other debt instruments. The burgeoning thematic bond market presents new paths for aligning financial returns with sustainable development outcomes. Despite rapid growth, these bonds still constitute a small portion of the overall bond market. The session underlined the importance of aligning countries' debt policies with sustainable development agendas and ensuring long-term debt sustainability, while discussing opportunities for capital mobilization through SDG-aligned debt instruments.
