Cameroon faces several challenges related to economic growth, public financial management and mobilising public and private resources to support the SDGs. Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020-2030 aims to address these challenges by aligning national development priorities with the SDGs, promoting inclusive growth, and supporting the country’s transition to a newly industrialised country.
Through the INFF process, the Government of Cameroon is developing a financing strategy for the National Development Strategy. The government is focusing specifically on tracking public expenditures in social sectors to better assess the efficiency of spending. Through the improved collection and use of gender-disaggregated data, the INFF process is also promoting gender-responsive budgeting.
