Compendium of National Institutional Arrangements for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

This compendium documents institutional arrangements related to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 46 countries.

Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, countries have continuously updated institutional arrangements in order to enable government institutions and other stakeholders to deliver the objectives encapsulated in the Agenda.

This compendium, prepared by the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, aims to document institutional arrangements related to the implementation of the SDGs in a simple but standard way.

The compendium covers the 46 countries that presented Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) in 2018. For each of the 46 countries, the compendium aims to provide information on the following nine institutional topics: (i) national strategies; (ii) national institutional arrangements; (iii) local authorities; (iv) parliament; (v) engaging and equipping public servants; (vi) civil society and the private sector; (vii) monitoring and review; (viii) engaging supreme audit institutions; and (ix) budgeting.
