Background
As we pass the midpoint of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) timeline, progress is lagging, with only 16% of targets on track to be met by 2030. Accelerating SDG progress requires significant financial investments and better coordination across all financing sources. The UN Secretary-General has highlighted the importance of financial system reforms and the SDG Stimulus to Deliver Agenda 2030 (SDG Stimulus) emphasises the role that Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs) play at the country level.
Currently, over 85 countries are using the INFF approach: 13 national and subnational governments have operational financing strategies and more than 50 countries are implementing finance policy reforms shaped by their INFFs. INFF Facility analysis of the reforms implemented by 17 of these countries finds $16 billion in new finance leveraged for SDG investment in sustainable development and alignment and scope for enhanced SDG impact of more than $32 billion.
About this Event
This event will review country-level experiences with INFFs, featuring high-level speakers from governments using the INFF approach and perspectives from international partners. The Ethiopian government will present the Ethiopia Integrated Sustainable Financing Strategy. Discussions will focus on scaling up INFFs to accelerate progress in the second half of the SDG timeline and how these strategies can inform the revised Financing for Development agenda.
