Malawi’s development finance assessment presents a comprehensive analysis of trends in public and private finance in Malawi. It has assessed the opportunities and challenges that Malawi faces to mobilize the investments needed to achieve its development strategies at the local and national levels, especially during the global pandemic (COVID-19) which has negatively impacted the financing options of Malawi.

The DFA has analyzed the financing policies and partnerships that are contributing towards the development strategies. It also includes elements of Local Level Finance Assessment (LLFA) developed through discussions with civil society organisations (CSOs) and local government ministries/departments. The DFA has mapped finance flows available to Malawi and explored how they can be leveraged and aligned to anchor the implementation of its development strategies.
